Battle Fantasia is an arcade-style fighting game inspired by Guilty Gear, featuring RPG elements. It includes arcade, training, and versus modes (both offline and online for competitive play). The central feature is the story mode, narrated like a fantasy book, recounting a world plagued by darkness and monsters. Four heroes emerged to vanquish this evil, leading to the creation of two kingdoms: the Magic Kingdom and the Steam Empire. However, the Deathbringer's return threatens to undo their peace.

Players choose from twelve characters, each with a unique backstory tied to the war and the Deathbringer's return. They wield distinct skills and weapons, with health determined by hit points rather than life bars. The game showcases 2-D cel-shaded graphics in 3-D environments, complemented by hand-drawn illustrations by Emiko Iwasaki, who also designed the main characters.
